ATLANTA -- Two people were shot at a Midtown Atlanta movie theater on Tuesday night, police said.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. at the Midtown Art Cinema at 931 Monroe Dr., according to Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee.

The victims, a man and a woman, were hospitalized in stable condition. By Wednesday afternoon, they were said to be in good shape and recovering.

The shooting took place after a screening of the movie Finesse. During a post-screening question and answer session, shots reportedly rang out. A star of the movie, Christian Saslo, told 11Alive's Devin Fehely that one of the victims was a musician.

Chafee said an off-duty officer working at the theater heard the gunshots. A woman was shot in her leg and a man was shot in his buttocks. Chafee said no arrests have been made.

Christian Saslo said everything was practically over when the shots were fired.

"We were out of the theater, we were all in the lobby, here," said Saslo. "We were signing autographs and answering questions. We were all on our way out when all of a sudden those gunshots rang out."

Saslo said no one got a good look at the gunman, who was able to get away.

Finesse is billed as a comedy about a record executive/neighborhood pastor who is running a shady business with a shady crew.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage in hopes of identifying suspects in the shooting.

The movie theater reopened on Wednesday. Moviegoers said they wouldn't be swayed from attending their community theater by Tuesday's incident.

The shooting came hours after an announcement that another Atlanta theater would show The Interview, a political satire film on North Korea that prompted backlash and a cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment. Midtown is not screening that film.
