Minivan driver loses control of vehicle, crashes into Cobb County Civic Center front door, county says

The damage was not structural, and no one was seriously injured, the county said.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A minivan crashed into the front doors of the Cobb County Civic Center as an exhibitor was dropping off supplies for a quilt show Wednesday morning.

According to a county spokesperson, no one was seriously hurt when the incident occurred. An exhibitor was dropping off supplies for the "Georgia Celebrates Quilts" show when she lost control of her vehicle -- rolling through the glass doors of the building.

Structural engineers looked at the damage and found it did not impact the structure or safety of the building, the county said. Crews then removed the minivan, boarded the doors and cleaned the main lobby.

The quilt show is expected to continue as planned and will open Thursday at 10 a.m. The Civic Center team is also working on an alternate entrance plan for exhibitors and the public.
