Police asking for public's help locating missing Gwinnett County teen last seen in February

Asata Amun, 16, was last seen leaving her home in Buford on Feb. 1.

BUFORD, Ga. — The Gwinnett County Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a missing teen who reportedly left home four months ago and never returned.

Officials said Asata Amun, 16, was last seen on doorbell video running out the front door of her home on Westoak Court in Buford on Feb. 1.

According to police, Amun had been disciplined by school administrators the day before her disappearance, and detectives believe the incident could have provoked her to leave home. She took no personal items with her when she left.

She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants.

Police are urging the public to share any new information on Amun's disappearance as they have received little to no information on her location since she was previously announced as missing in April. Her family members say she did not mention running away before she left, and they are hopeful someone will come forward with information on her whereabouts.

If anyone has information to share in this case, contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404.577.TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com
