The Hall County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 12-year-old who has been missing from her Gainesville home for nearly two weeks.

According to the sheriff's office, Maria Gomez-Perez was last seen at her home off Westside Drive around 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29. Investigators have been searching for her since.

A total of 26 investigators are working on this case around the clock. State and federal partners, as well as private corporations, are assisting in the search for Gomez-Perez.

A Levi's Call, Georgia's version of a child abduction alert, was never made. Cases must meet five criteria for an alert to be shared, and this case did not meet the requirements when the attempt to get a Levi's Call was made. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday they would offer a media advisory, which does something similar to an Amber Alert.

At this time, the sheriff's office said they don't have signs that foul play was involved or that Gomez-Perez was abducted against her will. However, officials said they are continuing to follow leads "and seek new ones."

Officials could not give out many details so as to not jeopardize the investigation. It was shared that law enforcement is currently attempting to locate Gomez-Perez's mother. They did say that the girl's father was cooperating with the investigation.

Gomez-Perez is described as standing 5-foot-3 inches tall and weighing between 100 and 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and long black hair and is thought to have been wearing a bright blue shirt (as seen in the photo) when she was last seen.
