HARALSON COUNTY, Ga. — The body of a missing man with Parkinson's Disease has been found after a three-day search in west Georgia.
Authorities issued a Mattie's Call for Timothy Robert Jones on Monday after he went missing the night before in Haralson County off of Candy Kitchen Road.
A Mattie's Call is a special statewide alert for elderly residents and those with disabilities. Jones had what officials described as an advanced form of Parkinson's and signs of dementia.
Late Thursday, authorities said that friends and family had found the body of a man believed to be Jones in a lake not far from his home. The lake had been searched two previous times in the days since he went missing.
Due to the condition of his body, the Haralson County Sheriff's Office has sent his body to the crime lab for official identification. However, an identification card belonging to Jones was found in the pocket of the deceased man.
In a Facebook update to the original search, the Haralson County Sheriff's Office asked the public to keep Jones' family in their thoughts and prayers.
