Search for missing Georgia teen comes to tragic end

Family said Je'Aarian Belin saved a friend before he went underwater.

For six days, crews have searched for a 17-year-old boy who went missing along the shores of Tybee Island. On Friday, they made the discovery they feared most.

WSAV reports that the body of 17-year-old Je'Aarian "Jay" Belin was recovered.

"To his family, friends and fellow students of New Hampstead High School, we extend our deepest sympathy to you during this time," the Tybee Island Police Department said in their Facebook update.

According to WSAV, the teen was one of three swimmers who went missing off of a sandbar on the island, which is just east of Savannah in Chatham County, Georgia.

Family told the local NBC station that Jay saved a friend before he went under.  The high school senior was set to graduate in May.  A GoFundMe page has also been set up for the family according to WSAV.
