GEORGIA, USA — Shy'Kemmia Pate was only eight years old when she disappeared from her family's porch in Unadilla, Georgia. Now, Pate would soon be turning 34 years old and no one knows her whereabouts to this day.
Pate vanished on September 4, 1998, where a massive search took place to find the young girl. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children recently released an age progressed photo of what Pate would look like in hopes someone will recognize her.
Officials with the center cited police who said that Shy'Kemmia was waiting for her older sister to take her to a football game, but when her sister came back she could not find her.
Her mother, Veronica Pate, told the center that she hopes the new image will generate new information surrounding her daughter’s disappearance.
“I am not going to give up or stop believing that she will come back one day,” she said.
The center said Pate was last seen wearing a neon-green Atlanta Braves jersey with red lettering, Levi’s jeans and a leg brace.
“Our age progression images have played a pivotal role in reuniting missing children with their families,” said Angeline Hartmann, NCMEC director of communications. “Today, on Shy’Kemmia’s 34th birthday were asking everyone to take a moment to look at this new image. We just need the right person to see it and make that call.”
Anyone who has information about her disappearance or whereabouts is asked to call the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia at 1-229-645-0920 or NCMEC at 1-800-843-5678.
