GBI, Towns County Sheriff's Office searching for missing, endangered woman

Tanya Michelle Sorrells was last seen on Sunday, April 6.

TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. — The Towns County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for a missing 47-year-old woman who was last seen in early April. 

According to the sheriff's office, it received a report of a missing person on April 17 regarding Tanya Michelle Sorrells of Young Harris. She was last seen on Sunday, April 6, at a residence in the Gumlog Road area. The sheriff's office said Sorrells had withdrawn money from her personal banking account and told a relative she was going to Columbia, South Carolina.

A phone ping was conducted on her cell phone and showed it in the Columbia area, according to the sheriff's office. Sorrells has been officially classified as a missing, endangered person. A Mattie's Call has also been issued due to some mental health struggles. 

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting in this active investigation. The Towns County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating Sorrells.
