Missing teen at Fort Yargo State Park found in North Carolina, family says

WINDER, Ga. — Update: An update from the 16-year-old's family on Facebook and the city of Winder said she was found in North Carolina by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is safe. Her family did not provide any other information at this time and is asking for privacy as the "situation unfolds."

Winder Police are searching for a missing teen who was last seen at Fort Yargo State Park.

Kaelyn Phillips, 16, was last seen Monday at 1:30 a.m. at the park's Campground 2.

On Tuesday, an active search was seen ongoing at the park. 11Alive's Cody Alcorn is at the scene, where the park is closed as authorities investigate.

She's described as being 5'04" and possibly has braids in her hair. She could also be wearing glasses and white Puma shoes.

"Our agency remains in contact with her family and will update the public with additional developments as this investigation is ongoing,” Winder Police Captain Chris Cooper said. 

A $2,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to finding her, the police department said.
