DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A seven-month-old baby boy and his 29-year-old mother were injured overnight in a shooting at a home in Lithonia, according to DeKalb County Police.
Officers said the incident happened along Wildginger Run.
Both the mother and child were sleeping during the time of the shooting, according to authorities.
Police add that a bullet grazed the baby, and the mom was shot. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
Authorities say the home was shot at five times, and they believe it started as an argument between a young man who lived inside the home and a group of young men outside.
Police do not believe the mom and baby were the intended targets. In addition, they say other children were in the home at the time of the shooting.
