More than 100 cats found in Canton home; charges pending

More than 100 cats were removed from a Cherokee County home on Saturday in a case of apparent animal hoarding.

CANTON, Ga. -- More than 100 cats were removed from a Cherokee County home on Saturday in a case of apparent animal hoarding.

The Cherokee County Marshal's Office and animal control units responded to a call at 4367 East Cherokee Drive in Canton, Ga. officials said.

At this point the count is up to 97 cats - many in poor health according to marshals. The animals were voluntarily surrendered by residents.

A juvenile at the home - a teen - has also been removed from the home and placed in Department of Family and Children Services custody.

Charges are pending against the homeowners.
