ATLANTA — A motorcyclist was hit and killed in Atlanta on Friday night after police said they were trying to split lanes at a high rate of speed.
Atlanta Police officers responded to Greenbriar Parkway SW and Continental Colony Parkway SW around 11:10 p.m. after a report of a two-vehicle collision.
When officers responded, they found a Honda CR-V and a Kawasaki motorcycle had been involved in an accident.
A 36-year-old man driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Another person who was on the back of the motorcycle was rushed to Grady Hospital in critical condition, police said. A 29-year-old woman, the driver of the CR-V, was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Police said the initial investigation shows the driver of the CR-V was driving north on Continental Colony Parkway SW, where she was trying to turn left going west onto Greenbriar Parkway. APD said the motorcyclist was driving fast and splitting lanes and ultimately collided with the CR-V in the middle of the intersection.
Investigators are still trying to determine more details surrounding the crash.
