CUMMING, Ga. — The city of Cumming is welcoming drivers on GA-400 with their new water tower.
The tower located on Deputy Bill Cantrell Memorial Road was approved by city council members in August 2018 to be constructed by John D. Stephens Inc for a $7.5 million bid. The tower is being constructed to improve the water delivery on the south side of the city.
The project included the installation of a water pipeline along Castleberry Road, Hutchinson Road and Deputy Bill Cantrell Memorial Road. The new tower is double in capacity compared to its predecessor with a 2-million gallon tank.
The tower can be found off Hwy. 400 and Exit 14 adjacent to the GRTA Xpress Park & Ride. The message "Cumming Home" is painted on the basin in red and black lettering. City officials hope the water tower helps with the needs of Northside Hospital Forsyth and the southern portion of the Cumming Utilities' Service Area.
