FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Have you ever wondered what your dog is trying to say to you? Amy and Lauren Van Duzer with Happy Hounds & Beyond are trying to help owners debunk theories and provide understanding in their free 'How to Guide on Dog Behavior and Communication' workshop.
In the seminar, Amy and Lauren demonstrate how people often misinterpret their dog’s behavior using videos, games, and live demonstrations using their golden retriever, Rylee.
Amy says the objective of the free seminar is to make it easy for nearly anyone to interpret dog body language and communicate effectively to prevent dog bites. "We really just want to create stronger bonds between pets and their people," says Amy.
The first two weeks of the workshop focuses on preventing dog bites to children. "Unfortunately, children are the most common victims of dog bites because they don't fully understand what a dog is saying...so we really want to better equip families with this knowledge."
The next class is being held this Thursday, October 17 at the Forsyth County Library - Hampton Park Branch from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. This week's session will explain why dogs do 'pesky behaviors' like jumping on guests and barking at you while you’re on the phone. The last free class will be on Thursday, October 24th and focus on canine fears and trust.
Active participation is encouraged; no registration is required. Click here to learn more about the instructors.
