Holi Festival canceled in Cumming due to Coronavirus concerns

15th annual festival set for March 14 is officially cancled.

CUMMING, Ga. — Organizers with the 15th annual Sewa International USA Holi Festival have decided to cancel this weekend's event in Cumming, as concerns grow over the spread of coronavirus.

The annual Hindu festival was scheduled for Sunday, March 15 at the Cumming Fairgrounds.

Known as the festival of colors, the event usually involves throwing colored powder and water balloons. Organizers announced the decision to cancel the event on their Facebook page on Friday.

"We are canceling the event to ensure the health and safety of our community, partner organizations, and volunteers who help us organize this event every year," the organization posted on Facebook. "We will keep you posted about our next event soon. Until then please stay safe."

There is no word on if the festival will be rescheduled.
