CUMMING, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office recently uploaded a video to its Facebook page, and in just the first week it got more than 25,000 views.
“The idea for this video came from Sheriff Freeman. He wanted to let the community know about our CHIP program and let them know what our CHIP volunteers are out there to do,” Cpl. Pete Sabella said.
CHIP, which stands for Citizens Helping In Policing, allows volunteers to get involved with law enforcement, after going through background checks and training.
“They assist with traffic control on accident scenes. They're trained to help with vacation checks, business checks, park checks, things of that nature,” Sabella said.
FCSO put some time and effort into making this video, and they did so with help from Justin Webb, a reserve deputy who’s worked in video production for more than 30 years.
“I basically come in and do video production for this department at the sheriff's office,” Webb said.
Part of the shoot was done with Webb’s own camera gear, but other aspects of the production required some high-flying technology.
“The sheriff's office has some drones for the purposes of law enforcement stuff. It worked out perfectly,” Webb said.
