EAST COBB, Ga. — Lisa Weinert of Cobb County has been a personal trainer since 2008, offering customized workout plans to her clients.
“People were coming to me with issues, and I wanted to figure out what to do for them because there were things getting in the way of them reaching their goals,” she said. “I just started looking at what people do, and a lot of times people concentrate on the same things over and over - all the running, all the yoga, all the heavyweights. They were getting injured, and they were getting disappointed.”
The problem, Weinert said, was a lack of balance with most of the fitness regimens. So she created an all-encompassing plan for her clients, called Run Fit Yoga.
“Run Fit Yoga is a combination of doing some form of cardio, whether it's running or walking or something else,” Weinert said. “It's doing fitness with weights or your own body weight, and it's doing stretching or yoga.”
She said her clients immediately responded well to the new routine, because of the increased success they were having with their workouts.
“They are finding that their recovery is better, their strength is better, and their performance is better as a result,” Weinert said. “One of the things that I think sets me apart is the assessment that I do, so I focus on functional movement assessment, looking at mobility and instability of ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders. And it's something that a lot of people don't look at. I also look at running form, so I can look at how someone is moving between the functional movement assessment and the running form analysis, put together corrective exercises, and then I put them with their plan.”
