EAST POINT, Ga. — The public only tends to only think about the Fire Department when there’s an emergency, but putting out fires isn’t the only thing that East Point Firefighters are good for. Chief Corey Thornton and several other staff from the Fire Department participated in a county-wide initiative sponsored by the Fulton County Schools Summer Meals Program.
The Smart Lunch, Smart Kid program was created by Action Ministries under the guidance of its CEO, Kelley Henderson. Smart Lunch, Smart Kid works with local agencies to provide meals for kids during the summer for communities throughout the state. The
The Fulton County School Nutrition Program agrees to prepare meals for service to children, ages 18 and under. The program for Fulton County runs from May 28 through August 9. Chief Thornton and his staff with the assistance of volunteers hand-delivered lunches provided by Chick-fil-A to the children of the Martel Homes Development in East Point.
