EAST POINT, Ga. — The City of East Point Fire Department in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) hosted the annual ‘Be Cool’ About Fire Safety today from 10 am - 12 pm at the East Point Fire Administration Headquarters located at 3121 Norman Berry Drive.
Roughly 180 children from four local daycares attended the event which featured singalongs, East Point Firefighters along with Sparky the Fire Dog and even clowns. Be Cool About Fire Safety is a Fire Prevention program that teaches children the do’s and don’ts of fire safety, as well as how to respond during an emergency in their homes.
The theme of this year’s event was something that every kid can connect with nowadays; “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape, Plan and Practice Your Escape!” The firefighters (with a little help from Sparky & the clowns) demonstrated how to dial 9-1-1, How to Stop, Drop and Roll, and give them a hands-on breakdown of their uniforms and equipment.
Children attended the Be Cool About Fire Safety from KaDazzle Childcare & Learning; Dozier’s Early Learning and School of Creative Achievers, and We Care Learning Center. For more information about upcoming events involving the East Point Fire Department, visit the city’s website.
