Francis Rozier is one of many 2019 Morehouse graduates to receive the Robert Smith grant.

“It was amazing, it’s such a burden that’s been lifted. All the worries I had trying to figure out how to pay back loans are now gone,” said Rozier.

The Atlanta native, who currently lives in East Point, says he was facing more than $24,000 in loans for his education.

“It’s a relief, now I’m going to spend this next year pursuing an internship as I apply for grad school without feeling any anxiety,” said Rozier.

Rozier graduated with a degree Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies and a Minor in Economics.

A Morehouse College official says the gift was worth an estimated $40 million and will pay for around 400 graduate’s loans.
