EAST POINT, Ga. — As metro Atlanta continues to grow, so do the needs of its citizens. Same goes for the city of East Point.
In recent years, there’s been a big initiative around the city to push for healthy living and healthier food alternatives for the residents. From weekly farmer’s markets, vegan restaurants to free city-sponsored cooking demonstrations, East Point has been making a change for the better.
Working in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission, Food Well Alliance will implement a city-wide pilot program in the Atlanta that will bring together local governments and communities looking to incorporate urban agriculture into their respective urban development.
The ARC and Food Well Alliance are hosting Community Food Forums that will be held in each city up for consideration as residents will have a chance interact with local food experts and farmers. The forums will be used to access the readiness of each respective area as well as inform the residents about locally-sourced agriculture.
