EAST POINT, Ga. — The third man accused in a deadly carjacking in East Point is now behind bars.
Ronald Dewan White was arrested in Cobb County February 9 on unrelated charges.
White, his 15-year-old brother, and Luther Ausbrooks are all suspects in Terrick Matthews’ death in September of 2018.
According to investigators, Matthews was shot and killed as the three were trying to steal a car he was in.
East Point Police say 24-year-old Matthews and the owner of the car were both cooperative during the carjacking.
“They were complying with orders, but you took a step further by killing this man for what,” said Detective Ebony Johnson-Bullock.
Police say Matthews was a father of two.
Surveillance pictures show the men at gas station buying gasoline soon after the shooting. The car was found on fire hours later.
White’s mother turned in the teenage brother in September 2018. Ausbrooks was arrested in October.
26-year-old White now faces both felony and misdemeanor charges in Cobb County according to jail records. The charges include felony theft and possession of drugs.
East Point Police say once White is released from Cobb County Jail, he will be transferred to East Point and face murder and other charges in Fulton County.
