GWINNETT, Ga. — Gwinnett County Health and Human Services received $133,000 in additional funding from the Atlanta Regional Commission to reduce the number of seniors on its waiting list for senior Centers.
Currently, there is a waiting list of 156 pre-screened clients. Each center will host 40 seniors.
The new centers will be Satellite Senior Congregate Centers in Grayson and Snellville.
Both centers will be in already existing areas, if additional funding is approved by Gwinnett County Commission, this will be a partnership between Gwinnett County and each city. It is expected to be voted on by February 5th.
Each center will provide two meals and a host of activities, three days a week.
Currently, there are five Senior Congregate Centers in Gwinnett. Since the opening of the center in Centerville, Gwinnett County Health and Human Services noticed a demand for Congregate Centers.
Each client must go through an assessment before joining the Senior Center. For more information reach out to Gwinnett County Health and Human Services.
