LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — As we head into the holiday season, you may start to notice red kettles popping up around the country outside of local businesses. The Salvation Army of Gwinnett County is a part of that group working to populate 130 locations with bell ringers.
The Gwinnett County branch kicked off bell ringer orientation this week and will teaching orientation through next week. Captain Jeremy Mockabee says their goal is to have all volunteer kettle bell ringers, “we do offer paid seasonal positions, but the more volunteers that we have the more money we’ll be able to raise.”
Every dollar collected in a red kettle in Gwinnett County goes straight back to residents and local outreach programs like homelessness services, youth enrichment efforts, and anti-trafficking programs.
For the second year in a row, the Salvation Army will continue their ‘Ring For a Change’ program which encourages area businesses and groups to volunteer to ring bells in exchange for recognition by the local salvation army branch through social media and their newsletter.
