New details on skull, bones found in suitcase

Police said the human remains found in a suitcase in a wooded area along Interstate 985 belonged to a woman.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Police said the human remains found in a suitcase in a wooded area along Interstate 985 belonged to a woman.

The skull and and an entire set of bones were found Friday between the I-85 split and Buford Drive around 11 a.m. by a Department of Transportation worker.

The Medical Examiner's Office determined that the remains were of a woman about 20 to 30 years old. She was either mixed race or Hispanic and died about six months ago, investigators said. The cause of death is still being determined, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

There are no missing person cases through the Gwinnett County Police Department that match the remains.
