Crews battle warehouse fire in southwest Atlanta, no injuries reported

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

ATLANTA — Fire crews worked several hours to extinguish a massive fire at a southwest Atlanta warehouse early Tuesday morning, according to the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD).

Firefighters responded to the fire at a large warehouse on Murphy Avenue and Avon Avenue just before 2:00 a.m. The more than nine-acre facility is owned by the Atlanta Beltline in the Oakland City neighborhood.

When crews arrived, they found the roof of the building on fire with smoke billowing out and quickly began working to get the blaze under control.

After several hours, the fire was deemed safe for crews to enter the building. No one was injured during the incident.

The Atlanta Beltline said in a statement:  "Our team is currently on site at the scene of a fire at property owned by Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. at 1150 Murphy Avenue, referred to as the Avon property. The property only contained unoccupied buildings. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department confirmed with our team that the fire was extinguished and that there were no injuries to sworn or civilian personnel. We are working closely with Atlanta Fire Rescue Department to determine damages and cause of the fire."

The fire remains under investigation.
