North Springs High School students stage protest

Students at North Springs High School in Sandy Springs staged a protest for more than an hour on Friday.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Students at a Sandy Spring high school staged a sit-in and walkout Friday and said another protest is planned at the evening's football game.

Around 11 a.m., students at North Springs High School began posting pictures of a large sit-in inside the building.

Protestors also moved to the school's football field just after noon.

One student tweeted the sit-in is a result of a student having her "#blacklivesmatter shirt taken" and a teacher allegedly calling the group a "terrorist organization."

A school spokesperson said that those rumors were completely false.

Another rumor stated that a female student had been passing out Black Lives Matter t-shirts for Friday night's football game, but they were confiscated by an administrator.

In a video taken from the school's football field and posted on Twitter, one student said "people getting together, that's the best part about it."

Someone who called himself a senior shared a video of an adult who appears to be the school's principal struggling to speak to the students.

Students said that the protest would continue at Friday night's football game.
