DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A teenager is dead after a crash in DeKalb County on Tuesday morning, according to the police department.
Officers were called to Northcrest Road and Chamblee-Tucker Road, where a single-car crash had happened around 1:40 a.m. The DeKalb County Police Department said the driver was dead when they arrived, later identifying him as 16-year-old Guillermo Aguas-Bahena.
In a letter sent to families on Tuesday afternoon, Lakeside High School principal Dr. Susan M. Stoddard confirmed that Aguas-Bahena was a member of the class of 2025 at Lakewood High School.
Police said two passengers were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK. No other information was released by authorities.
The DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department previously said that the crash had compromised powerlines in the area but did not say if service was affected for anyone in the area.
