Officer suffers medical emergency while responding to call, APD says

BUCKHEAD, Ga. — An officer suffered a medical emergency while responding to a "criminal trespass" call on Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Police Department. 

The officer was responding to 3535 Peachtree Road NE in Buckhead, which is the address of several businesses, including Publix Super Market at Lenox Marketplace and Target -- across from Phipps Plaza.

"At this time, it appears that one of the officers who responded to the location suffered a medical emergency and was transported to Grady Hospital for treatment," the police department said in a news release. 

APD said the officer is alert, conscious and breathing and is receiving medical treatment. 

No other details were released from the police department at this time.
