One dead in head-on wreck in Pike County, deputies said

PIKE COUNTY, Ga. — A 53-year-old woman was killed Friday evening in a head-on wreck in Pike County, according to authorities.

Pike County Sheriff's deputies said a GMC Sierra was attempting to turn left onto Williamson-Zebulon Road from Georgia Highway 362 at about 6:34 p.m. when it struck a Nissan Sentra head-on.

Deputies said the Nissan was waiting to turn onto Georgia 362 when the wreck occurred.

The Nissan's driver, identified by sheriff's deputies as Traci Durham from Hollinville, was declared deceased at the scene.

Sheriff's deputies said the Sierra's driver, Jennyvelisse Womack, along with her husband and son were transported to Spalding Regional Hospital for treatment.

Investigators are working to determine the events which led to the wreck, the Sheriff's Office said.
