ATLANTA, Ga. -- The long-awaited day finally came on Saturday as the College Football Hall of Fame opened it's doors to the public.

There were 'gators and tigers and bruins, oh my! But it was an in-house rivalry that was first in line.

"We generally pull for each other most of the time, but one weekend a year it doesn't work out to well," said Jerry Salmon, a self-professed Alabama Crimson Tide fan who, along with his wife Rebecca, an LSU Tigers fan, was the first in line.

The doors opened with all the pageantry of a Saturday in the south. Marching bands and cheerleaders welcomed the crowd.

Once inside, you're greeted by 768 football helmets. If you need help finding your team, simply ask one of the staffers and they'll find it and light it up for you.

Next, hit the gridiron. You can try your luck kicking, passing or running.

Upstairs, you'll experience college football history with this interactive museum. Want to know what it's like to run onto the field with the Bulldogs? Now you can see it first hand with their 360 degree virtual set.

"It's just wonderful for the city of Atlanta, I'm glad we have it," said Bob Miner.

The College Football Hall of Fame reminds college football fans everywhere, why they love the game so much.
