Here's how to donate to the 42nd 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon

Here's how to get involved.

ATLANTA — 11Alive and The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta invite the community to join in for the 42nd anniversary of the 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon.

To participate, start collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items this fall. Then, on Friday, Dec. 6, drop off your donations at one of five convenient locations in metro Atlanta: Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett, DeKalb or Fayette counties:

  • Salvation Army of Gwinnett County (Gwinnett): 3455 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville
  • Salvation Army of Marietta (Cobb): 202 Waterman Street, SE, Marietta
  • Salvation Army Kroc Center (Fulton): 967 Dewey Street, Atlanta
  • Salvation Army Peachcrest (Dekalb):  3500 Sherrydale Lane, Decatur
  • Trilith Town (Fayette): Trilith Parkway, Fayetteville

Each year, there are a handful of schools who join our efforts by delivering canned goods they have collected to one of our drop-off locations. This year, there will be a special incentive for even more schools to get involved. We have added three friendly competitions for schools to participate in to see which schools can collect the most cans; which school creates the most creative can-struction; and which students share the the most heartfelt "why I give" message.

More ways to donate

Because hunger never takes a holiday, there are more opportunities to join the fight against food insecurity.

If you can’t attend the drop off event on Dec. 6, through Dec. 31, individuals can help us fight hunger from the comfort of their homes or the palms of their hands:
