Start collecting your canned goods for the 41st annual 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon!

The 41st annual 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon will be Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 and will benefit The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta.

ATLANTA — Imagine having to decide whether to purchase food or fill your gas tank, or whether to buy food or pick up a prescription. These aren’t hypothetical scenarios: they are the daily decisions that 1-in-8 families in metro Atlanta make each day.

You can make a difference by helping The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta and 11Alive re-stock the Army’s 13 food pantries for the 41st Annual 11Alive Holiday Can-A-Thon.  Your donations help ease the burden of food insecurity for thousands of our neighbors, many of whom suffer in silence.

Here’s how it works: Collect canned goods and non-perishable food items (no glass or baby formula) this fall.

Then, on Friday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., drop off your donations at one of four convenient Salvation Army locations in metro Atlanta:

  • Publix Shamrock Plaza (Decatur): 3870 N Druid Hills Rd
  • Salvation Army Lawrenceville (Gwinnett): 3455 Sugarloaf Parkway
  • Salvation Army Marietta (Cobb): 202 Waterman Street, SE
  • Salvation Army Kroc Center (Fulton): 967 Dewey Street

If you'd like to participate as a volunteer for this year's Can-A-Thon, you can sign up with The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta.

Because hunger never takes a holiday, there are more opportunities to join the fight against food insecurity if you can’t attend the drop-off event on Dec. 1. Through Dec. 31, donors can help fight hunger virtually:

11Alive is grateful to Publix Super Markets, which have been a Can-A-Thon partner and sponsor for almost two decades, for providing logistical support as well as the donation of food items to The Salvation Army.

Visit 11Alive.com/canathon for more information, or to register a school, business, or organization to participate in the Can-A-Thon on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023.
