PALMETTO, Ga. — Palmetto authorities responded to a "serious traffic accident" that left one person dead at the intersection of Tommy Lee Cook Road and Highway 29 on Saturday night.
Before 9 p.m., troopers responded to Georgia 14 near Tommy Lee Cook Road in Palmetto about a two-vehicle crash.
They said a white Ford F250 was traveling south on Georgia 14 and crossed the center line. The Ford struck a tan Chevrolet Malibu traveling north on Georgia 14.
Deputies added that the driver of the Ford was suspected of being under the influence and was life-flighted to Grady Hospital.
Meanwhile, the 64-year-old driver of the Malibu, Robin Slaton, was pronounced deceased on the scene.
