HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Editor's note: The video above is from a previous version of the story.
A road dedication took place in Henry County, honoring an officer who was shot while responding to a domestic incident.
Those who live in the county can now ride down Officer Paramhan Desai Memorial Highway in memory of the late husband and father of two.
Henry County Police Department officials and community leaders were present at the event to pay their respects. Desai's sister, Divya Desai, was also in attendance and said the service was exactly what her brother would have wanted.
"He said, 'I'm never going to leave Henry County,'" Divya Desai said, "And I guess he's not, because he owns a road now."
She added that since he was eight years old, Paramhan Desai wanted to be a police officer and that it meant a lot that the road he traveled the most was the road chosen.
Henry County Commissioner Carlotta Harrell was at the dedication and shared how the decision was a true group effort.
"We got everyone in the house and the senate to sign off on this," she said.
