A part-time instructor at Kennesaw State University is facing three felony drug charges.
According to a campus police report, Brent Christopher Allsup was found passed out at KSU’s student center around 10 pm. Allsup told police he had driven to the campus after consuming between three to five beers. (Note: Allsup now disputes the police report. Click here for that story)
According to police, Allsup gave them permission to search his car, where they found a half-empty 16-oz. bottle of beer, along with hydrocodone pills; amphetamine salts and a Xanax bar, all of which are regulated under Georgia's controlled substance laws.
Kennesaw State said Allsup teaches part-time in the school's Coles College of Business, School of Accountancy. He has been employed since fall 2010, but is currently not teaching classes.
Jail records show Allsup bonded out about 2:30 a.m. the next morning for $11,220. He was also charged on one open-container misdemeanor count.
The school said an investigation is pending.
UPDATE: Lawyer disputes police report
Note: A previous version of this story stated that the campus police report indicated that Allsup was found in his car. The report actually states that he was found in the student center. This story has been corrected to reflect that.
