Two students at Pebblebrook High School in Cobb County are charged with bringing a loaded gun to school and several baggies of marijuana, according to police.
Tybias Aaron Davis, 18, is accused of working with Holton Naylor, a fellow 17-year-old student, to distribute nine bags of marijuana on campus.
Davis and Naylor are both expected to face adult charges.
Naylor is accused hiding a jar of pot and a loaded Raven .25 caliber handgun in a book bag and leaving it outside of a classroom. Davis allegedly took it to the bathroom and returned to class with the bag.
Police said Naylor took the handgun from the bag and tried to hide it in his pants, police records show.
It is unclear how school administration learned of the contents in the bag.
A spokesperson from the Cobb County School District said administrators and police were able to address the situation quickly. No students or staff were ever threatened, officials said.
"Pebblebrook continues to be a safe place for students and staff," the district said in a statement.
District officials said they plan to roll out a "safe schools" tip line to give students and staff another option to report suspicious behavior in the new year.
