MABLETON, Ga. — A 36-year-old man was hit and killed along Mableton Parkway on Saturday night, according to Cobb County Police.
The police department said the crash happened at 10:49 p.m. on Mableton Parkway, north of its intersection with Community Drive.
Investigators believe that the 36-year-old man, from Mableton, was walking east across Mableton Parkway, outside of a crosswalk, when a white 2020 Nissan Murano hit him.
The pedestrian ended up in the northbound lane, where authorities said he was pronounced dead by the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office. Police said the Nissan came to a stop in the same lane.
The police department added that the man's name is being withheld at this time pending notification of his next of kin.
Cobb County Police Department's Special Operations S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987.
