GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A person is in custody Sunday evening after they allegedly stole a MARTA bus and took it for a joyride across Gwinnett County, according to officials with the transportation service.
MARTA officials said it happened around 5 p.m. when the person boarded an empty bus around Lawrenceville Highway and Steel Drive and verbally assaulted the driver.
The person then drove the bus nearly 15 minutes to Stone Mountain Park where they were immediately arrested, according to a MARTA spokesperson.
No one was hurt, and the bus was not damaged. The person will face charges of hijacking a motor vehicle.
