PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — A 79-year-old woman died in a crash in Pickens County on Thursday night, Georgia State Patrol confirmed.

The crash happened on GA-5 when the woman, driving a 2017 Ford Escape, pulled into the path of an oncoming car, GSP said.

GSP said she was traveling east on Fairview Road and "failed to yield and pulled into the path" of an oncoming 2017 Dodge Dakota driven by a 60-year-old man.

GSP added: "The collision occurred in the left southbound lane of GA 5, with the front of the Dodge Dakota striking the left side of the Ford Escape. Following the collision, the Dodge Dakota rotated, coming to rest partially in the left southbound lane and partially in the gore. The Ford Escape traveled through the grass median, into the northbound turn lane for Fairview Road, and came to a stop in the turn lane. The driver of the Ford Escape succumbed to her injuries at the scene. No other injuries were reported and there were no signs of impairment."
