Plane crashes on Kennesaw State's campus | What we know

The crash was about 20 feet inside the campus boundaries.

Law enforcement officers are watching over the site where a plane crashed on Kennesaw State University's campus Thursday evening.

The wrecked plane sat there all night as crews waited for daylight to come before they said they would begin examining and removing the wreckage. Yellow tape has the crash scene blocked off.

Here's what we know about the crash.

WHERE

It happened on Frey Lake Road at Campus Loop around 7 p.m. Thursday. The crash was about 20 feet inside the campus boundaries.

WHAT HAPPENED

Cobb Fire spokesperson Denell Boyd said the pilot reported engine problems and may have run out of fuel. Officials listed the aircraft involved as a Cirrus SR22. They are still investigating the cause.

WHO WAS INJURED 

Two people were inside and were conscious after the crash. The airplane was traveling from Omaha, Nebraska with plans to land in Charles Brown Field in Fulton County.

THE INVESTIGATION   

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were called in to investigate.
