DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A small plane overshot its landing on the runway at the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
A spokesperson with DeKalb County said that a pilot and passenger were on board, but fortunately, neither of them were hurt.
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. when a twin-engine Beechcraft Super King Air slid off the runway during landing and onto the Engineered Material Arresting System, which is the runway safety area behind the main landing strip that provides a graded area to help pilots come to a safe stop if they overshoot their landing.
No people, planes or buildings were hit by the aircraft, officials said.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
