Suspects in custody after shooting inside Austell phone repair store, police say

This is a developing story.

AUSTELL, Ga. — Two people are now in custody after a shooting inside an Austell repair store on Friday afternoon, according to the police department.

It happened at the phone repair store on Austell Road just around 2:15 p.m. The phone repair store appears to be near a Marathon gas station. When the officers arrived, they found a man who was shot.

In a news release, Austell Police said a search for two suspects then ensued. The Cobb County Police Department, FAST, K-9 Unit and Drone Unit responded to the shooting to search for the suspects.

After putting out a description, officers found a 17-year-old who was shot and a 19-year-old suspect. The suspect who was shot was taken to the hospital and released after treatment. The 19-year-old suspect was detained for questioning.

The 11Alive SkyTracker flew over the scene, where several law enforcement vehicles were seen surrounding a Marathon gas station. Crime scene tape appeared to surround a nearby business center with a mobile phone repair store.

11Alive's Cody Alcorn spoke to the owner of the mobile phone repair store, who said there appeared to be "beef" between the victim and suspects. The store owner added a shootout, then started inside the store and carried it out in the parking lot.

Law enforcement agencies are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Both suspects were charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Cobb County Detention Center. Austell Police added that future charges for the two suspects are still pending.
