MARIETTA, Ga. — A woman was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Cobb County on Sunday evening, police said.
According to the Marietta Police Department, the incident happened around South Marietta Parkway southbound at Whitlock Avenue.
Preliminary information reveals that a woman crossing the loop outside a designated crosswalk was hit by a vehicle, police said. The driver remained on the scene, and the woman was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
Marietta Police initially told the public around 6:48 p.m. that South Marietta Parkway southbound at Whitlock Avenue was closed due to a serious injury accident investigation. Police said the road would be closed for about an hour or two and to avoid the area.
