ATLANTA — Hundreds of people are gathering in Downtown Atlanta as they rally and march in support of Palestine.
11Alive's Cody Alcorn is downtown near the march where he said the protesters began rallying on the sidewalk outside the CNN Center and State Farm Arena but later moved into the street where they began blocking traffic and chanting "Let us march."
Atlanta Police went on their loudspeaker to tell them they are allowed to protest on the sidewalk, but they needed to get out of the street.
After the group began marching past State Farm Arena and toward Mercedes-Benz Stadium, another group of pro-Palestine protesters appeared to have converged into one big group and blocked traffic.
The large group later began marching down Ted Turner Drive and Marietta Street before marching back toward the direction of the CNN Center. 11Alive's Cody Alcorn said that Atlanta Police were keeping traffic stopped in order to let those in the rally march on.
Georgia State Patrol troopers were also seen trying to keep protesters on the sidewalk as those moved into the streets.
