ATLANTA, Ga – A rapper and another man have been charged with reckless driving after police say they raced their dirt bikes on several Atlanta streets.
According to the police report. Symere Woods, aka Lil Uzi Vert, and Ivison Smith, were arrested Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, after police saw the men riding the bikes on sidewalks, driving the wrong way on another street and crossing traffic without using turn signals.
Police say they first saw Woods and Smith near Northside Drive and 14th Street. “Neither bike had any head lights, brake lights, or any tail lights on them and neither operator was wearing a helmet,” the report said.
Police began following the men as, according to the report, “they were riding in the parking lot (1145 Hemphill Ave NW) and were going over the sidewalks, on the street disregarding all traffic markings, towards a (Texaco) gas station.”
As police approached the men several blocks later, the report said both Woods and Smith fled on foot, were chased down and arrested.
The dirt bikes did not have any insurance and were not registered, police said. Both men were charged with operating a motorcycle without insurance, obstruction, reckless driving and several other traffic-related charges.
Woods has been hailed as "the next phenom in rap" by Complex. Originally from Philadelphia, he relocated to Atlanta at some point, according to Spin. According to his website, he's set to embark on a tour of the U.S. later this month..
