4 rafters rescued on Chattahoochee River, Cobb Fire says

Cobb County Fire said when crews arrived, they found three people holding onto the tree and a fourth person who was further down the river.

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Four people were rescued after a tree deflated their raft on the Chattahoochee River Friday afternoon, Cobb County Fire said.

Crews responded to the swift water rescue at 2:45 p.m. Cobb County Fire said when crews arrived, they found three people holding onto the tree and a fourth person who was further down the river.

All four people were safely put into a boat and brought to shore. Cobb County Fire said there were no injuries. 

Cobb County Fire said Sandy Springs and Marietta fire rescue crews also launched boats to help reach the rafters as quickly as possible. Last week, Sandy Springs Police announced a new river patrol unit -- which is helping with water safety on the Chattahoochee River. 

"We want to remind everyone regardless of swimming proficiency level to wear personal flotation devices while in the water," Cobb County Fire added.
