Jonesboro police chief fired, mayor says

The Jonesboro mayor said she "feels this is the best way to move the city forward."

JONESBORO, Ga. — Jonesboro Police Chief Tommy Henderson has been fired, according to the mayor.

Mayor Donya Sartor shared the news with 11Alive Friday evening. She said she would attempt to have Lt. Chris Cato take over as the interim. However, approval is needed by the city council.

The reason behind the termination was not provided. However, the mayor said she "feels this is the best way to move the city forward." 

Records show Henderson has been the chief since Nov. 2020. 11Alive will update this story as soon as more details are available.
