CLAYTON COUNTY, GA (WXIA) – Hundreds of Clayton County parents were put on alert Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was found on the campus of Mount Zion High School.

School officials contacted authorities at about 10 am. All of the students were evacuated and sent across the street to the performing arts center.

Initially, parents thought it was a bomb threat.

Dozens of parents showed up to the school, but they were not allowed to pick up their children.

"I got a notice from Clayton County Messenger saying there was a bomb threat," said parent Angel Watley. "So he said they were not checking any kids out, but I'm going to stay here until I find out what's going on, and for them to release my son."

Authorities said the bomb squad found two suitcases with clothes on campus. They were looking into who put them on campus, and who they belonged to.

No injuries were reported.
