ROSWELL, Ga. -- Four people were arrested and drugs, cash and weapons were seized during a massive bust in Roswell last week.
Police found 3.5 pounds of high-grade marijuana, 80 grams of concentrated THC, more than 700 generic Xanax pills, 11 guns and $29,000 cash at several locations, including a house in the 12000 block of King Road, about a mile from Roswell High School.
Roswell Police Officer Zachary Frommer said the four-month investigation into the drug ring stemmed in part from a number of complaints about drugs being sold to Roswell High students. Police wanted to make an arrest before Monday, when Fulton County students return to school.
"This investigation made a positive impact in reducing the availability of illegal drugs to youths in our area," Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant said in a release.
A father and son, 47-year-old Patrick Jankowski and 19-year-old Angelo Jankowski, were taken into custody Aug. 7, as were two associates, 20-year-old Riley Bloomer and 19-year-old Amanda Kurkjian. All four face a number of felony charges related to violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act. Patrick Jankowski was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A fifth person, 62-year-old Leon Kurkjian, was arrested on a unrelated warrant out of Gwinnett County.
In addition to the King Road house, police searched a home on Pullman Trail in Roswell, a unit in the Falls at Sope Creek Apartments on Roswell Road in Marietta and a vacant building in the 13000 block of Arnold Mill Road in Roswell.
The Marietta Cobb Smyrna Drug Task Force, DEA, GBI, North Fulton SWAT and Johns Creek Police assisted Roswell Police in the investigation.
